Paraguay advances in space exploration with GuaraniSat-2
The Paraguay Space Agency reaches a new milestone with the development of GuaraniSat-2, a nanosatellite entirely designed and built in the country. This project represents significant progress following the success of GuaraniSat-1, which received Japanese technical support, according to PhD Engineer Adolfo Jara, the agency's general planning director.
GuaraniSat-2 emerges as a collaborative project integrating national and international institutions. At the local level, the Polytechnic Faculty, UNA's Engineering Faculty, and Catholic University are participating, while internationally, the Mexican space agency, National Autonomous University of Mexico, NASA's JPL, and an Italian technology company are collaborating.
The satellite, designed for scientific purposes, will incorporate innovative technologies that will be tested in space for the first time. Environmental tests will be conducted in Japan during February and March, prior to its orbital deployment. Currently, the technical team is focusing on the device's structural and electrical integration.
The project not only represents technological advancement but also provides an educational opportunity for Paraguayan undergraduate and graduate students, who actively participate in the development process. This initiative contributes to building local capabilities in space technology.
The Paraguay Space Agency celebrates the opening of the local market to technology and space industry companies, such as Starlink. The global space sector moves billions of dollars annually, presenting significant opportunities for the country's technological and economic development.

Engineer Jara emphasizes that Paraguay can develop technology for clients in Europe or Asia, following the example of countries like Uruguay, which already has space industry companies exporting technology globally.
